Position Title: Clinical Training Specialist, Senior

JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Clinical Training Specialist provides quality delivery of assigned dental and radiology course information by planning, preparing, and delivering quality classroom type instruction in participatory, interactive student involved modalities. Provide guidance and academic support to employees to facilitate course completion. Evaluate and resolve employee inquiries, issues, problems, and ensure appropriate action is taken to resolve issues regarding the training program. Follow all organizational and regulatory policies and procedures. Position has no direct reports.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs on-going review and development of clinical training and radiology curricula in the department and make suggestions per policy.
  • Seek alternatives to improving training outcomes, reducing attrition and improving retention.
  • Track and advise employees of their academic and testing progress.
  • Stay current with dental trends and usage of new technology.
  • Coordinates learning and development events associated with leadership & compliance, including scheduling, communication, marketing and logistics as needed.
  • Presents recommendations and strategies associated with the successful execution and completion of assigned projects and programs.
  • Monitors, measures, and reports on the quality and effectiveness of the clinical and radiology training programs.
  • Provides recommendations and implements changes to improve the overall quality and effectiveness of the clinical and radiology training programs.
  • Develops and maintains training documentation and presentations.
  • Documentation is presented and maintained in a consistent professional format.
  • Ensures that clinical documentation and reference materials are consistent, current and useable; providing job aides, role play and scenarios for students to reinforce documents.
  • Provides remedial support and assessment tools to assist employees in mastering job skills by working with department coordinators, supervisors and managers.
  • Assesses training needs by collaborating with UM Trainers and UM Management.
  • Assures learning is taking place by designing and administering tests, assessments, and evaluations on training programs. Utilizes feedback to improve documentation, courses and assessments.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Facilitates “Train the Trainer” sessions as needed or requested.
  • Designs, organizes and deploys blended learning solutions using classroom, web-based, and other delivery solutions.
  • Perform clinical peer reviews
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicant must hold valid, active, current license as an RDH licensee for 5 years.
  • 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, diagnose, analyze, and interpret dental records, charts and x-rays.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Minimum of 6 years in a talent development / learning management role.
  • Expert level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio, Outlook).
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to prepare reports and present ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Must have the ability to establish key relationships with business partners to ensure that employee development programs are relevant to business growth and development.
  • Must possess demonstrated success with problem analysis and problem resolution.
  • Must have ability to use and incorporate technology in training programs included but not limited to conference calls, video conferencing and webinars.
  • Must be able to work independently, on a team, as well as cross functionally.
  • Must have ability to travel as necessary to support learning and development activities across the enterprise.
  • Required to attend additional training as requested/deemed necessary

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbent must be able to communicate effectively. Requires overall light physical effort (up to 25lbs.) Manual dexterity and sitting is required in carrying out position own position responsibilities (i.e. use of personal computer). Ability to travel or move about within and outside serviced facilities required. Incumbent works primarily in either a private or shared office environment.
